Due to an unfortunate accident, our CBR F4i TPS broke. We have been told that we can only order a spare TPS if we order the entire throttle body as well http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Is this true? Does anyone know where we can get our hands on a spare TPS?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure honda put that same tps on quite a few cars. You could just take your old one to a junk yard to make sure that's the same one, but I'm pretty sure it is. I do know for a fact that it is the same plug, since that's what I have on my Accord.

Honda Motorcycle and Honda Car sensors are interchangable. There are a few different aftermarket manufacturers of Honda throttle position sensors.

Check the polarity of the outer two wires, as they are backwards on some motorcycles.

The "Blox" sensor is roughly $20

I managed to salvage a TPS from a Honda City car. Physically its the same thing. The resistance range in the new TPS is 1k to 5.3k, while the original TPS shows a variation from 0.46k to 5.3k.

I reckon that the only difference that this should make is that the engine will be fooled into running slightly richer at low throttle positions. Am I correct?

You can use any sensor really, just recalibrate the ECU to the new resistance range! That is, assuming the ECU you're using is able to be calibrated.

Stock ECU.

We'll fix that next year. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
