We just finished upgrading the webcam in our shop, better quality and now including pan and tilt controls.

On a typical weekend we have between 30 and 40 people watching us, kinda creepy...

hey, sorry the dumb question, but how does this tilt camera thing works?

i mean, not how I use it, but how does it tilt the real camera?

Wow, I need one of these to sit at home and manage the team with....

Just remember to turn it off when ya want to do something stupid like accidently set the workshop on fire. hahaha

The camera has two motors built in to do the pan and tilting, then a program running on the computer to control them. The camera is a Logitech Orbit (sometimes called Sphere, same thing though)

We have had a camera in the shop for the last two years, just upgraded it to pan/tilt though, and lets just say there are defiantly times the camera is "down" because the cord is unplugged.

No new shop, just not there much, mostly just Friday nights. We're going with a two year build this year, so we're going kinda slow. Hopefully we will start building stuff soon.

Nope. Just two travel web sites, trying to improve their web search engine rankings by using a spambot to plaster their links all over the place.....

Friday nights are the only nights i dont spend in the lab!

Any other teams have webcams? This years team leader is trying to con us into having one but i dont want to be caught on tape dancing around the lab or making blow dart guns or any of the other stupid stuff i do.

It would definately be convenient to show sponsors/donators the progress of our project...

But you're right Wolak, I wouldn't want you on there doing 70% of the things you do. Atleast it wouldn't have sound?!

You guys building in a different room this year or something?

I've checked your webcam like every day this week and no one's been in there!

On another note, Carnegie Mellon's webcam proves that their composite guys just don't sleep at all!

We're "building" in the same room, but we are a little behind schedule and haven't actually started to build anything yet. We're doing a two year build so it isn't a huge deal yet, although I'm starting to get worried. We're making sone good progress on suspension design and trying to figure out tire data. Hopefully in the next few weeks all hell will break loose as we try to get the chassis and suspension built before school ends.
