Hi, my name is Chetan Joshi and I am one of the Engineering Managers for the first year Formula team @ Ferris State University.

Being from the hosting state of the event, I have taken the responsibility of organizing a GOKARTING CHALENGE for all SAE members coming to the congress on the dates of April 2nd thru April 7th.

To participate in the Challenge

1. Make your way to Kart2Kart (look up location on map http://www.kart2kart.com/contact.html ) anytime during the congress week and put in some fast lap times.

2. Bring your SAE or FSAE credentials to receive the discounted rate that I have worked out for us.

3. User name must be your last name & University for us to be able to keep track of the scoring, (make sure all members of your school use the same labeling and that it does not conflict with other schools) IE: joshiferris or joshiFSU

I have worked out a special rate with the owner of $15 a heat, and 10mins long. I will collecting all the data at the end of the week and will be posting it on the forum for all to see who the fastest drivers are. The owner is currently working on having some type of trophies/ prizes to be handed out come May when we all come out for the competition.

So let all your members know and good luck and have fun, but most of all catch me if you can http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I would love to attend but last time I was at Kart2Kart I was told to leave. I guess they don't like it when you stop in the middle of the track to read your times. Ooops.

why not do this around competition when 130 teams are in the MI area!

Do times from tonight count? Its Industry League night.

I would not suggest holding this event at any time surrounding competion. Atleast not if your attempting to attract attention from the competitors. If any team actually finds the time to attend, they'd probably be tired as shit. Our shop is burnt out every year for a week or two after comp. I like your idea but you need to put more thought in to it.

Congress week is next week. Obviously not many teams will be in town. Mostly Michigan/Ohio schools.

I agree, this event wouldn't be easy to pull off during FSAE. Although they aren't letting us do all-nighters anymore, so maybe it could work Wed, Thurs, or Friday night. K2K is about 10-15 miles south of Romeo Proving grounds, and only a few miles from Utica/Pontiac, where most teams are probably staying.

Hope you are ready to get annihilated. KU is at Kart 2 Kart every weekend. 8-)

Ok guys this is the first time that i am setting this up so there maybe a bit of a learning curve to it. But if things go well i will talk to the owner and set something up for the race weekend in May.

Looks like Ferris is going to be there for the first time sunday afternoon after setup. Right before the open bar reception http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

If you all wanna meet up then it could be fun. Our team plans on making more visits throughout the week, but sunday sounds like a good time to start.

I drove at kart2kart once... couldn't stand it. The track is so slick and tires so hard. I want to feel more than .001 lateral g's when i'm driving a kart. Gotta have at least 1.5. I guess I've gotten kind of spoiled with Bondurant around here.
