hey guys,

ive uploaded my pics from the weekend to here for you to have a squiz at:

http://users.bigpond.com/snoboarder
http://users.bigpond.net.au/phandle1

for everyone out there wondering why theres so many pissed idiots in the photos...thats what happens when you invite alumni to the party http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

remember guys, to win at SAE you have to listen to your older more experienced team members...(easily spotted by the big orange cone on their heads)...also take note of big jim who pops up in a couple of photos towards the end..he's a must if ever you want to bribe a design judge http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

sorry theres not to many detailed pics of all the cars from the comp but im sure that they'll do until someone else fills in the gaps

once again congrats to everyone that competed at and organised this years event, it was great to be at my third comp for the year having also experienced the US and UK comps this year..although i must say that the atmosphere in the pits was awesome to see i hope we can continue putting on a world class competition for many more years to come

...oh and Kev, if your reading this...didnt your mum say you were spose to go to bed by now?? http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

cheers

who's car is this?
http://users.bigpond.net.au/phandle1/pages/IMGP7564.htm
it's pretty impressive one of the shortest FSAE cars i've ever seen... what is the driving position like, offset or pretty central?
and weight distribution?
also what were the design judges oppinions of it? I'll assume that it is bang on the minimum 60" wheelbase, but what were the oppinions of the judges & more importantly, are there any benefits on turn in with having the front wheels on the nosecone, or is it more for the benefit of weight distribution?

Thanks for the kind words jonno!

the car is as small as the rules allow i guess, weighwed in at comp at 169kg.
driver position is offset slightly and weights are spot on which we are very pleased about. distribution front to rear is 46/54 and 50/50 side to side.....adjustable to cope with differing driver weights.
judges seemed to love it, very simple and effective design we came 7th in design probably due to a lack of supporting data etc. the benefits of having the major masses as close to the CoG as possible are easy to see and having no overhangs front or rear is also an advantage.

were very keen to bring the car to the UK for formula student 05.

169 kgs, great job, can anyone give more data on their car's weight?
