Walker Racing is looking for a recent graduate for an entry level position as part of it's Champ Car engineering group. Applicants must be able to apply practical and theoretical knowledge. Must be willing to travel.

At Track Responsibilities

1) PI data review
a) Prepare setups for cars with input from Assistant Engineers and send to cars.
b) Review sensor functionality for proper setup conditions. Revise as appropriate throughout weekend.
c) Review Sensors each outing to define out of range conditions
d) Review Cosworth temperature, and pressure data to develop feel for problems.

2) Timing and Scoring Reports
a) Prepare timing information on Thursday
b) Test during Atlantic practice for changes
c) Plot out results at end of each session

3) Post Session Report Preparation
a) Prep sheet changes on Thursday
b) Plot out results and distribute to at end of each session

4) Radios
a) Troubleshoot team car/team radio problems
b) Design/implement solutions to radio problems
c) Provide programming of radios for overseas/foreign races
d) Collect and distribute video and voice timing stand recordings to team management.

5) Sensor Wiring & Spares inventory
a) Prepare wiring for spare PI system sensors
b) Troubleshoot failure of sensors at track

6) Computer IT representative
a) Troubleshoot computer hardware/software problems
b) Computer hardware representative to outside supplier

7) Timing Stand Assembly/Disassembly
a) Help in assembly and disassembly of timing stand at track
b) Wire timing stand to pit wall and be the primary person to troubleshoot problems with the feed.

At Shop Responsibilities

1) PI data review from Race Weekend
a) Review race data looking for abnormal (out of range conditions) for all variables (temp, pressure, boost, gearing, and braking)
b) Provide mileages for gearbox department

2) Identify sensor maintenance required with input from mechanics (i.e. new wheelspeed sensor due to cut wire). Perform this sensor maintenance and provide parts and information on the Pi build for the next event to the Chief Mechanics.

3) Maintain radios and helmet microphone installations for drivers and crew. Program all radios with new frequency requirements (out of country) before the next event. Obtain this information from Racing Radios/Champcar to ensure proper weekend functionality.

4) Maintain timing stand based upon problems encountered. Collect, modify, and distribute pit video recordings from past race and provide to team management.

5) Collect and maintain database of race TV video from Champcar for team use and for driver weekend preparation.

6) Provide computer troubleshooting expertise for the shop equipment. If more assistance is required, schedule work with outside suppliers.
