Well, what do you think, and why?

There are sharper turns.....like a hairpin.

Well obviously you want to make sure its capable of making the smallest radius on the track.

But in terms of what radius to optimise your design for, that depends on what kind of track you are targeting.

Snoop,
If you read the Rules thoroughly, D.7.2.1 and D.8.6.2 say the minimum radius turn is a hairpin with a minimum outside diameter of 9 metres, which means with a minimum track width of 4.5 metres, this is a 180 degree turn around a single cone. This was done because a couple of tracks we had, namely the Ford Proving Grounds in Australia in 2000 and Bruntingthorpe in the UK forced us to have turns like this, and we wanted the teams to design their cars so that they could make these turns. Extreme cases, yes. But you never know what the organizers will have to contend with.

Go with around 4.2m. Should work good.

Hi Michael,

I think Alex might be a spambot. He won't be happy until you hire a truck from him...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

Cheers,

Geoff

For some reason the spambots absolutely LOVE this post. I'm guessing it's because it is hilarious enough to have been linked and searched repeatedly.

I still like the idea of having spambots automatically answer all dumb questions though.
