Anyone out there, or anybody from Wisconsin Madison that could tell me what they have as side impact protection??? I hope it is no secret. If it is, no problem.....http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Since we do not run a full spaceframe, we must submit documentation that shows our aluminum monocoque would absorb and equivalent amount of energy in an impact as the 3 tubular members described in the rules.

The tub is not filled with any foam or anything like that. Do you have a more specific question perhaps? Are you running an aluminum tub this year?

No.... We are going with a full space frame made of mild steel.

I have seen your videos, and you have had that tubular side impact on your 201 and 202.

I was just curios.... I thought you maybe had, what you said you donĀ“t, foam or something similar. Do you have tubes under that??

....just coriosity......

Thanks..

The car is completely held together by the aluminum tub. Between the front rollhoop, and rear rollhoop, there are 0 steel tubes!

Will you be at Detroit this summer? Our current design retains the tub(with a few modifications), so you are more than welcome to stop by our pits and I can show you in person how it all works, its pretty nifty if you ask me.

If anyone would like to see the videos that he is referring to, check out This website (http://www.cae.wisc.edu/~sae/multimedia.html). You can see my sexy bod in the news report link at the bottom.

If you have any other questions just let me know.

Yes, hopefully we will get there. Or maybe, hopefully, our country gets better.

If we make it over there, I ll stop by your trailer to take a look at it. Sounds interesting.

Thanks for sharing..

How is your 2003 car construcion going??
